The height of Mount Everest

The height of the Mount Everest is increasing over years.

As per records when Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay climbed the Mount Everest, the height was 29,028 feet; but the new recorded height of the Everest is 29,035 feet. There is a variety of perception of various pole geographers. However, there is a debate whether the Indian subcontinent was an island or a part of the African continent along with Australia which is referred to as Gondwanaland.

The plate of the Indian subcontinent collided with that of Asia post the extinction of the dinosaurs. Both these plates have been converging into each other which consequently created the Himalayas, the youngest mountain range in the world. The movement of these plates has been continuing northwards for millions of years and hence the height of the Himalayan range has been increasing year on year. The coastal region of Eurasia and the Indian subcontinent colliding is evident in the form fossilized sea shells found in these high mountains. The Himalayan range has not just increased in height but also moved towards the northeast direction.

Could it be that the Indian subcontinent is shrinking too?
